Pakistan Iran Parliamentary Ties Strengthen Regional Cooperation

Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq held a meeting with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian in Islamabad, highlighting the visit as a pivotal step in strengthening the close historical ties between Pakistan and Iran, and fostering regional peace and development.

During their discussion, Speaker Sadiq praised the leadership of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and President Pezeshkian, especially in the handling of the recent Iran-Israel conflict. He also thanked Iran for its support of Operation Bunyan Marsous, and reminded the Iranian delegation that Pakistan’s National Assembly had unanimously passed a resolution showing solidarity with Iran. Speaker Sadiq condemned Israeli actions as breaches of international law and reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

President Pezeshkian expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s consistent backing and warm reception, describing these gestures as a testament to the enduring brotherhood between the two countries. He acknowledged Pakistan’s principled support during difficult times, noting that Iran would always remember this show of solidarity.

Both leaders agreed to further expand cooperation between Pakistan’s National Assembly and Iran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly. They committed to enhancing parliamentary exchanges and fostering greater collaboration in legislation, policymaking, culture, economic development, security, and regional stability.
