SEPA Officers Gain New Skills in Judicial Academy Training

A five-day training program organized by the Sindh Judicial Academy has equipped 20 officers from the Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) with advanced knowledge in environmental law, judicial procedures, and compliance mechanisms. The initiative aimed to enhance SEPA’s capacity to enforce environmental regulations effectively across the province.

During the program’s conclusion, Director General of the Academy, Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro, highlighted the importance of routine factory inspections, recommending that these become a legal requirement. He also called for stronger coordination between SEPA and the judiciary to ensure stricter action against those responsible for pollution. Justice Kalhoro underscored the dangers posed by unchecked industrial emissions, vehicular pollution, and inactive treatment plants, emphasizing the urgent need for robust enforcement measures.

SEPA Director General Waqar Hussain Phulpoto noted that the training would improve the agency’s ability to prosecute environmental crimes, thereby offering greater protection for public health. At the end of the program, certificates and shields were awarded to the participants, marking the successful completion of their specialized training.
