SHARP has reaffirmed its strong commitment to women’s rights by participating in a recent event in Islamabad dedicated to highlighting the rights of Afghan women. Organized by a group representing Afghan women, the event brought together advocates, experts, and community members to spotlight the ongoing struggles and achievements of Afghan women.
Representing SHARP at the gathering were Ms. Tayba Hafeez, Program Officer, and Ms. Gul-e-Khuban, Protection Paralegal. Both emphasized SHARP’s ongoing dedication to supporting the rights and wellbeing of refugee women, underscoring the importance of protection and advocacy in challenging circumstances.
Speakers at the event expressed solidarity with Afghan women, condemning gender-based discrimination and gender apartheid. They called for sustained efforts to secure justice, dignity, and equality, uniting participants in a shared pledge to continue advocating for the rights of Afghan women facing adversity.
