Agha Shahzaib Durrani Leads IPU Young Parliamentarians Session in Samarkand
SAMARKAND: Senator Agha Shahzaib Durrani of Pakistan chaired a high-level session of the IPU Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians 2026 in the historic city of Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
The international conference was attended by young parliamentarians and parliamentary delegations from more than 75 countries, offering a major forum for discussions on issues facing younger generations and the role of young lawmakers in building a more inclusive and sustainable future.
Presiding over the session, Senator Durrani conducted deliberations among parliamentarians from different regions of the world. The discussions highlighted the need for stronger youth representation in political decision-making and enhanced cooperation among parliaments at the international level.
The Samarkand conference also enabled young legislators to share views, expand parliamentary linkages and consider common approaches to new and emerging global challenges.
Senator Durrani’s chairing of the session underlined Pakistan’s active participation in the Inter-Parliamentary Union and its increasing role in international parliamentary diplomacy and youth leadership.
The gathering concluded with a renewed call to translate the voice of the world’s younger generation into effective political participation, policy formulation and practical action.
