Emergency Rule Contradicts Democratic Values, Says Nasrullah Randhawa
ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami Islamabad Ameer Engineer Nasrullah Randhawa has said that the imposition of emergency is against democratic values and respect for the public mandate.
In a statement issued by the Jamaat-e-Islami Islamabad information department on October 11, 2026, he said those who raised the slogan of “Vote Ko Izzat Do” had undermined democracy by imposing emergency and disregarding the mandate of elected representatives.
Randhawa said governor’s rule or emergency was not a solution to the problems facing the country. He added that such steps raised serious questions about the democratic process, public representation and provincial autonomy.
He said the political crisis in Pakistan was intensifying with each passing day. To steer the country out of political instability and confrontation, all political forces would have to sit together and seek a settlement of differences through dialogue in the national interest.
The JI Islamabad chief said political crises could not be resolved through extraordinary measures or by restricting public representation. He said the way forward lay in the supremacy of the Constitution, the democratic process and political dialogue.
Randhawa stressed that the ideology of Pakistan, constitutional supremacy and the rule of law should form the basis of national politics. He said all institutions and political forces must remain within their constitutional limits and play their role in promoting democratic stability, political harmony and the rule of law in the country.
He said Pakistan’s future was linked to strong democratic institutions, adherence to the Constitution and respect for the opinion of the people.
The statement was issued by Rab Nawaz Malik, Information Secretary, Jamaat-e-Islami Islamabad.
