Driving Technical Textiles Growth with Industry 4.0

The Textile and Leather Division of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan convened a seminar in Karachi on Technical Textiles and the application of Industry 4.0, drawing professionals from both industry and academia to chart a path toward higher-value production and smart manufacturing. The event underscored the growing importance of Technical Textiles for Pakistan’s export diversification and competitive positioning.

Speakers delivered focused presentations on automation, sustainability and smart textile solutions, with contributions from representatives of NED University, The Microfibre Consortium (UK), University of Technology Sydney and Utopia. Attendees examined how Industry 4.0 technologies can be integrated into existing operations to boost efficiency and product quality across technical textile lines.

Discussion centered on practical steps to strengthen supply chains and workforce capabilities so Pakistan can scale high-value Technical Textiles production. Panelists emphasized the need for targeted training, technology adoption and sustainable material choices to meet international market demands and environmental standards.

TDAP used the seminar to announce a series of upcoming workshops and training programs designed to accelerate innovation and market readiness within the textile sector. Participants welcomed these initiatives as timely measures to support industry transition toward smart manufacturing and to expand Pakistan’s presence in the global Technical Textiles market.
