Pakistan Strengthens UNESCO Partnership in Samarkand

On October 30, 2025, Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training Wajiha Qamar met with UNESCO Director-General Dr. Khaled El-Enany at his office on the sidelines of the 43rd Session of the UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, to congratulate him on his election and reinforce Pakistan’s commitment to multilateral cooperation.

Ms. Qamar conveyed Pakistan’s best wishes for Dr. El-Enany’s tenure and underlined the country’s continued support for inclusive and equitable education, skills development and cultural preservation. She highlighted Pakistan’s intent to work with UNESCO on initiatives that promote learning opportunities, vocational training and collaborative scientific research in line with the Sustainable Development Agenda.

Dr. El-Enany welcomed Pakistan’s sustained engagement and constructive contributions to UNESCO’s programmes and policy work. He expressed a readiness to expand areas of cooperation with Pakistan, notably in education, heritage conservation and innovation, reinforcing the strategic value of the UNESCO partnership for both sides.

The meeting in Samarkand underscored Pakistan’s resolve to deepen collaboration with UNESCO as a means to advance inclusive learning, protect cultural heritage and foster innovation. Strengthening the UNESCO partnership remains a priority as Pakistan and UNESCO pursue shared goals for sustainable and equitable development.
