ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan-Nepal-Bhutan Parliamentary Friendship Group met at Parliament House, Islamabad, with its Convener and Member National Assembly Dr Mahesh Kumar Malani in the chair.
The meeting discussed bilateral relations, trade links and mutual cooperation between Pakistan and Nepal.
Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Barrister Danyal Chaudhry, speaking on the occasion, said direct flights between Pakistan and Nepal should be restored to strengthen air connectivity between the two countries and make the routes economically viable.
He said direct air links would open up fresh avenues for people-to-people contact, trade and tourism.
Nepal’s Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Ms Rita Dhital, attended the meeting along with parliamentarians Shahzada Muhammad Gushtasap Khan, Muhammad Mubin Arif, Muhammad Usman Badini, Shaista Khan, Dr Darshan, Isfandyar M. Bhandara, Ramesh Lal and Farah Akbar.
The participants stressed the importance of promoting people-to-people contacts, cultural exchange programmes and increasing educational scholarships between Pakistan and Nepal.
Ambassador Rita Dhital said Pakistan and Nepal enjoy longstanding and brotherly relations, adding that the two countries could take their friendly ties to new heights by expanding cooperation in different fields.
She said wide-ranging opportunities existed for bilateral cooperation which could further deepen people-to-people connections.
