Pakistan and Australia Deepen Human Rights Cooperation

Neil Hawkins, the Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan, paid a farewell call on Federal Minister for Law and Human Rights Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar in Islamabad today, underscoring a mutual commitment to strengthen human rights cooperation between the two countries.
The minister welcomed the High Commissioner and praised his efforts in deepening bilateral ties, particularly in areas of rights protection and social inclusion. Both sides discussed the importance of sustained support and partnership to promote inclusivity, diversity and fundamental rights across Pakistan.
Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar briefed the High Commissioner on concrete steps Pakistan is taking to reinforce its human rights framework, including the ongoing implementation of the National Action Plan on Human Rights and initiatives aimed at protection and empowerment of vulnerable groups.
High Commissioner Neil Hawkins expressed appreciation for the strong partnership developed during his tenure and reaffirmed Australia’s willingness to broaden collaboration, especially on shared objectives of equality and social justice. The meeting concluded with both officials reiterating their resolve to enhance cooperation and build on the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and Australia.
