PEC IIUI Workshop Equips 50 Faculty with Evaluator Skills

The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) and the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) at International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) successfully completed a four-day training workshop, equipping 50 university faculty members to become skilled Program Evaluators (PEVs) aligned with Outcome-Based Education standards. Prominent academic leaders and experts conducted comprehensive technical sessions and practical exercises aimed at boosting evaluation capabilities and ensuring excellence in engineering education.

The workshop saw active coordination between IIUI and PEC, spearheaded by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Amir, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, and Engr. Haider Abbas from PEC. Participants represented diverse engineering faculties drawn from different universities across Pakistan, further enhancing collaboration and mutual learning opportunities.

During the workshop sessions, notable experts and resource persons shared extensive knowledge and practical skills. Leading technical sessions were eminent academics such as Prof. Dr. Inayatullah Babar, Vice Chancellor of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Taxila; Prof. Dr. Imtiaz Taj from the Capital University of Science and Technology (CUST); and Prof. Dr. Naveed Ramzan from UET Lahore. Their insightful sessions provided guidance on implementing and measuring standards in Outcome-Based Education and evaluation methods.

PEC Chairman Engr. Waseem Nazir personally attended the inaugural session, underscoring PEC’s commitment to enhancing Pakistan’s engineering education. Addressing participants, Engr. Haroon emphasized the critical need to consistently adhere to rigorous educational standards to sustain international recognition and foster excellence in engineering programs.

As part of hands-on activities, workshop attendees conducted mock evaluations of Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil Engineering programs at IIUI. These evaluations involved meticulous lab visits, detailed scrutiny of the program documentation, and comprehensive analysis to practice the principles learned throughout the workshop sessions.

In a concluding statement, the PEC leadership expressed appreciation to IIUI administration for their strong support and collaboration in hosting this important event. Special gratitude was conveyed to Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed, IIUI’s Vice President for Research and Enterprise, for facilitating the workshop’s successful organization and implementation.
