Empowering Youth for Climate Action in Jacobabad
SHIFA Welfare Association successfully concluded a four-day Youth Leadership Workshop on Climate Action in District Jacobabad, Sindh. The event brought together university students and community youth to build leadership skills and practical understanding of climate-related challenges facing their communities.
The workshop was organised under the Pakistan Youth Leadership Initiative (PYLI), a three-year programme led by British Council Pakistan in partnership with Education Above All Foundation’s Reach Out to All (ROTA) Programme. Implementation partners include the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, the Higher Education Commission, WaterAid Pakistan, UNDP Pakistan, local civil society organisations and public universities.
The PYLI project aims to train 90,000 young people across Pakistan in Global Citizenship Education, leadership, and Climate Action. Sessions in Jacobabad focused on practical leadership, community engagement and strategies for local climate action, equipping participants to lead initiatives in their neighbourhoods and campuses.
Local civil society groups and public institutions played an active role in delivering the programme, demonstrating how collaborative efforts can scale youth-led climate responses. By building capacity at the grassroots level, the workshop advances the wider objective of empowering a new generation of leaders committed to Climate Action across Pakistan.
