Young Stars Advance at Punjab Junior Tennis

The fifth day of action at the Punjab Tennis Academy in Bagh-e-Jinnah saw top junior talent on display as the SICAS Punjab Junior Tennis Championship moved toward its final day. Twenty matches across age groups highlighted the depth of local youth tennis, with the boys U-18 singles and doubles semifinals producing the day’s standout results.

Asad Zaman of Ali Embroidery Mills powered through his U-18 singles semifinal, defeating Ahmad Fareed Yawar 6-2, 6-0 in a commanding performance. In the other singles semi, Amir Mazari of Aitchison secured a convincing 6-0, 6-2 win over Abdullah Pirzada to set up a high-stakes U-18 final between two rising stars.

The U-18 doubles semis also delivered quality tennis as Mazari paired with Haroon Arif to beat Romail Shahid and Faizan Haider 6-3, while Asad Zaman teamed with Abdullah Pirzada to overcome Salar and Muaz 6-1, confirming two compelling finals for the age group.

Earlier matches across younger categories kept the momentum going: in boys U-14, Ohad e Mustafa edged Muhammad Muaz 4-1, 5-3 and M Umar Ali rallied past Muhammad Aayan 1-4, 4-1, 5-3. Boys U-12 action saw Muhammad Aayan of Fatima Group produce a straight-sets 4-0, 4-0 victory over Mustafa Uzair Rana.

On the girls’ side, Aiman Rehan showed resilience in the Girls U-12 semifinal, fighting back to defeat Eman Shahbaz 0-4, 4-0, 5-3 in a tightly contested encounter. Among senior players, the 45+ doubles semifinals produced decisive wins as Talha Waheed and Ashar Khan beat Dr. Arif and Arif Feroze 8-2, while Sheheryar Salamat and Hadi Hussain defeated Hasan Said and Qadir Nawaz 8-4.

All finals will be played today at the Punjab Tennis Academy, with the prize distribution ceremony to follow. The ceremony will be graced by Mr. Sheheryar Salamat, Director of SICAS, who will serve as the chief guest for the closing proceedings of this edition of the Punjab Junior Tennis event.
