Advancing AI initiatives to empower Pakistan youth

Dr Sonia Saleem, Focal Person for the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, led a focused meeting with Rana Mashhood Ahmed, Chairman PMYP, to review ongoing AI initiatives and shape strategies that empower young people and women across Pakistan.

The discussion brought together Ammara Aftab, Faraz Hussain Buriro, Hafsa Faheem of ProAI Global, Mahreen of AuratTech and Alia of SET, who highlighted collaboration and innovation as central to strengthening women’s participation in the AI ecosystem.

Participants stressed that AI initiatives must prioritize capacity building, mentorship and access to tools so that women and youth can enter technical roles, launch startups or contribute to national digital projects. Emphasis was placed on inclusive program design and partnerships between government, industry and civil society.

Under the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, the group agreed to coordinate efforts that pilot skills training, support networks and innovation pathways tailored to women and young technologists, aligning these AI initiatives with Pakistan’s broader digital future.

Stakeholders from ProAI Global, AuratTech and SET will continue to work with PMYP leadership to translate the meeting’s commitments into actionable collaboration that expands opportunities for a diverse next generation of AI practitioners.
