Surgeons Trained to Repair Fistula in Pakistan

Kohi Goth Hospital has completed its first international training programme to equip surgeons with practical skills in fistula repair. The course focused on hands-on surgical techniques and supervised procedures to build local capacity for treating fistula.

Established as the Asian region’s first dedicated training centre for fistula treatment and repair in Pakistan, the facility offered an intensive curriculum and live demonstrations to ensure trainees gained confidence in operative steps and perioperative care.

Participants included surgeons from Nepal, Bangladesh and Afghanistan as well as specialists from Gilgit and Peshawar. After completing the programme, these surgeons are now able to perform basic fistula surgery independently at their home institutions, expanding access to timely fistula repair across the region.

The successful completion of this international training marks a key step in strengthening regional surgical capacity for fistula treatment and in promoting sustainable, locally led fistula repair services within Pakistan and neighbouring countries.
