Beaconhouse and PCB Expand Scholarships for Young Cricketers
The Pakistan Cricket Board has signed a three-year addendum with the Beaconhouse School System to provide free education to 120 top-performing pathway cricketers from across 16 regions, including players in U15, U17 and U19 categories under the Beaconhouse scholarships programme.
Under the terms of the agreement, Beaconhouse will deliver full educational support for the selected players from 31 July 2025 to 31 July 2028. The PCB has already submitted the list of 120 deserving cricketers who will benefit from this initiative, which aims to balance sporting development with academic opportunities.
The signing took place at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and was attended by senior PCB officials including Mohsin Naqvi, PCB Chairman; Sumair Ahmed Syed, PCB COO; and white-ball head coach Mike Hesson. Also present were Abdullah Khurram Niazi, Director Domestic Cricket Operations, and Junaid Zia, SGM Domestic. Beaconhouse representatives at the ceremony included Kasim Kasuri, Chief Executive; Ali Ahmad Khan, COO; Faisal Nisar, AD Operations; Syeda Iram Naqvi, General Manager; and Tania Mallick, Manager Sports.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi praised Beaconhouse for supporting young cricketers and framed the partnership as an important step for nurturing both education and sport in Pakistan. He said, “With this partnership, the young players will be able to fully focus on their education as well and it marks the beginning of a bright future for them. This joint venture will have far-reaching results. We also intend to expand the educational scholarship initiatives for cricketers so that most of them can get free of cost education.” The focus on Beaconhouse scholarships underscores the PCB’s commitment to long-term player welfare.
Officials expect the programme to ease the burden on families, allow players to pursue studies alongside cricket, and strengthen the domestic talent pipeline. The collaboration sets a local precedent for combining institutional education with pathway cricket development, and PCB leaders indicated plans to broaden similar scholarship opportunities in future seasons.
