Advancing FMGs Rights through Policy Talks
In Islamabad, Dr Rafey Sher held a follow-up meeting with former Prime Minister and former Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf to discuss the ongoing challenges faced by FMGs under current Pakistan Medical and Dental Council policies.
Raja Pervez Ashraf underlined that the Pakistan Peoples Party has consistently supported Pakistan’s youth and will continue to press for fairness, equal opportunity and justice for FMGs who wish to serve in the national healthcare system.
Dr Rafey Sher expressed appreciation for Raja Pervez Ashraf’s understanding and constructive role, noting the former premier’s commitment to ensuring FMG concerns are heard at the highest levels and to helping create a pathway toward fair reforms for foreign-trained Pakistani doctors.
Dr Rafey Sher also praised the Pakistan Peoples Party for its sustained support of FMGs, saying, “PPP has always been a people-centric party, and its leadership has once again proven its sincerity by supporting the educated youth of Pakistan. The contributions of Raja Pervez Ashraf in this regard are highly commendable.”
Both leaders agreed that continued cooperation and transparent dialogue between policymakers and representatives of FMGs is essential to resolve the policy dispute in a fair manner and to enable foreign-trained doctors to contribute effectively to Pakistan’s healthcare and national development.
