H.E. Prof. Dr. Bibi Ameenah Firdaus Gurib-Fakim, former President of the Republic of Mauritius, visited The University of Lahore, a member of the COMSTECH Consortium of Excellence, and held a detailed meeting with Mr. Awais Raoof, Chairman Board of Governors UOL, and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf, Rector UOL. The visit underscored shared priorities in higher education and research within the COMSTECH framework.
The two sides engaged in fruitful discussions focused on COMSTECH–UoL joint programs for African countries and explored new avenues for cooperation in science and technology. Participants reviewed practical steps to develop joint curricula, collaborative research initiatives and capacity building efforts that would support partner universities across Africa. The meeting emphasized the value of coordinated action under the umbrella of COMSTECH collaboration to broaden academic and scientific linkages.
The University of Lahore’s role as a COMSTECH Consortium of Excellence member positions it to facilitate exchanges and program delivery for African partners while strengthening Pakistan’s academic ties in the region. Discussions concluded with a mutual commitment to continue planning collaborative projects and to pursue follow-up engagements that can translate conversation into concrete science and technology cooperation.
