Advancing Pakistan Iran Consultations

The 13th round of Pakistan Iran consultations took place in Islamabad on 17 November 2025, with the Pakistan side led by Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch and the Iranian delegation headed by Deputy Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht-Ravanchi. Senior officials from both countries participated in the talks, which covered a wide spectrum of bilateral issues.

Officials reviewed the status of implementation of decisions taken at the previous round and agreed to enhance and diversify bilateral trade. Both delegations committed to expanding cooperation in energy, transport connectivity, education and people-to-people exchanges as practical steps to deepen ties arising from the Pakistan Iran consultations.

The two sides exchanged views on regional and global developments of mutual importance and underscored the significance of regular meetings of institutional mechanisms such as the Joint Economic Commission and the Joint Trade Committee to translate political intent into actionable projects and greater economic engagement.

Both delegations reaffirmed their commitment to continue collaboration at multilateral fora, including the United Nations, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and the Economic Cooperation Organization, and to strengthen dialogue on shared regional and global concerns.

The consultations reflected close, brotherly relations rooted in shared history, culture and faith, and it was agreed that the next round of Pakistan Iran consultations will be held in Tehran on mutually convenient dates to follow up on agreed priorities and implementation timelines.
