Advancing Health Education Through ICHPERE 2025
The first International Conference on Health Professionals’ Education, Research & Entrepreneurship (ICHPERE 2025) concluded at the Health Services Academy Shahpur Campus in Islamabad after two days of intensive discussions and collaboration. The event, organised in partnership with COMSTECH and the PRIME Institute of Health Sciences, drew leading national and international experts, scholars, researchers and policymakers committed to strengthening health education and research in Pakistan.
ICHPERE 2025 featured keynote addresses, scientific sessions and interactive panels that explored modern approaches to healthcare education, innovative research models and pathways to health-sector entrepreneurship. Speakers and delegates emphasised practical strategies to integrate teaching, research and enterprise, with a focus on improving service delivery and building institutional capacity across the country.
Distinguished attendees at the inaugural ceremony included Prof. Dr. Shahzad Ali Khan, Vice Chancellor HSA Islamabad; Major General Tariq Zamir, HI(M) Retd; Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj, President PM&DC; Major General Professor Dr. Najam Saqib Khan HI(M) T.Bt Retd; Prof. Dr. Janet Grant from University College London Medical School and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Rashid from LSHTM. Senior academic leaders such as Prof. Dr. Samina Naeem, Prof. Dr. Iqbal Khan, Prof. Dr. Syed Zafar Ilyas and Prof. Dr. Junaid Sarfraz Khan were present alongside principals and deans from leading Pakistani institutions, reflecting broad institutional engagement.
A special acknowledgment was made to Mr. Abdul Wajid, Chairman PRIME Institute of Health Sciences Islamabad, for his support and commitment to capacity building in health education. Participants from universities, research bodies and professional organisations shared institutional experiences and showcased progressive initiatives aimed at fostering research excellence and entrepreneurship within the health sector.
Throughout ICHPERE 2025 delegates highlighted the importance of integrated learning, data-driven policy development, and multidisciplinary partnerships to enhance the quality of healthcare delivery in Pakistan. Sessions examined how academic leadership and collaboration between institutions can address contemporary health challenges and accelerate translational research that benefits communities.
The concluding proceedings reaffirmed a collective resolve among participating institutions to deepen cooperation, promote research excellence and nurture health-sector entrepreneurship for a more resilient healthcare system. The conference closed with a vibrant cultural segment that celebrated Pakistan’s heritage and provided delegates with a memorable experience.
