Portugal Ambassador Visits Quaid-e-Azam Mausoleum

On 23 November 2025 the Portugal Ambassador to Pakistan, Frederico Silva, visited the Quaid-e-Azam Mausoleum in Karachi to pay homage to the country’s founder, Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The arrival was marked by full protocol honours, including a ceremonial guard presentation by the Pakistani Navy alongside the mausoleum’s protocol staff.

The Portugal Ambassador laid a wreath at the tomb of Quaid-e-Azam, a gesture reflecting Portugal’s respect for Pakistan’s national heritage and recognition of Jinnah’s enduring legacy. The wreath-laying highlighted the symbolic importance of such visits in reaffirming mutual esteem between the two countries.

After the ceremony the delegation toured the adjoining museum, where the Ambassador examined personal artefacts, historical documents and exhibits that chronicle the life and leadership of Pakistan’s founding father. The museum visit offered a close look at the material history that resonates with many Pakistanis and visitors to Karachi alike.

The visit by the Portugal Ambassador underscored shared values and mutual respect, and served as a reminder of the role cultural diplomacy plays in strengthening bilateral relations. In Karachi, a city central to Pakistan’s history, the engagement reinforced ties between Portugal and Pakistan and signalled an interest in deeper cultural and diplomatic exchange.
