Journalist Exposes Fake Campaign Against Tauqir Shah
Senior journalist Hasan Ayub has published an investigative report that exposes a fabricated campaign against Tauqir Shah over the rights of Islamabad victims. The report, based on detailed fact-finding, concludes that the allegations were part of an organized disinformation effort with no basis in reality.
Syed Zeeshan Ali Naqvi, focal person for the Prime Minister Youth Program, praised Hasan Ayub and said, “We are grateful that the baseless accusations were uncovered and the truth was brought forward.” He added, “Those who carried out a campaign against an honourable and dedicated public servant should feel ashamed; they owe an apology to the affected families in the area.”
The controversy followed a complex ruling by Justice Babar Sattar that had left thousands of families facing the risk of losing legitimate rights. Tauqir Shah moved swiftly to address the crisis, engaging directly with the Prime Minister and President to secure a presidential ordinance that would safeguard the rights of the affected residents.
The ordinance has since been tabled in Parliament and is expected to be enacted into law, providing permanent protection for families from sectors including C-13, D-13, F-13, H-16, C-16 and E-13. Zeeshan Naqvi confirmed that efforts will continue to press the Prime Minister for further relief measures and to ensure a durable solution for Islamabad victims.
Tauqir Shah’s supporters note his long public service record and administrative experience. He comes from a well-known Islamabad family and has held senior roles including principal secretary in Punjab during Shehbaz Sharif’s tenure, principal secretary to the Prime Minister during the PDM period, representation of Pakistan at the WTO, and an appointment as Executive Director at the World Bank after retirement. His supporters credit him with securing major development funding and overseeing key matters at the Prime Minister’s Office.
The investigative findings and the passage of the ordinance have shifted the narrative back to practical remedies for affected families. With the allegations exposed and legal protections advancing through Parliament, advocates say Tauqir Shah’s actions have been instrumental in preventing widespread displacement and in restoring confidence among Islamabad victims that their rights will be defended.
