Sindh Boards Adopt National Marking Software

The Inter Boards Coordination Commission convened a forum meeting hosted jointly with the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi, bringing together chairpersons, controllers, IT directors and senior officials from examination boards across Pakistan to discuss key reforms and technology adoption.

In a significant move for Sindh’s examination ecosystem, the FBISE-owned marking software was formally handed over to Sindh boards. Sindh’s Provincial Minister for Universities and Boards, Ismail Rahoo, received the national exam software from the Chairman FBISE, Dr. Ikram Ali Malik, a transfer that is expected to streamline marking operations across all BISEs in the province.

The Executive Director of IBCC, Ghullam Ali Mallahn, played a central role in facilitating the deployment of the marking software to Sindh boards and coordinating between federal and provincial stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation.

The forum approved a unified national grading system to be introduced beginning with the 2026 examinations and urged provinces to announce implementation plans on time to secure an orderly transition. Participants also discussed redesigning SSC and HSSC group structures to expand subject combinations and open up multidisciplinary academic pathways for students.

A landmark decision at the meeting confirmed that A-Level candidates will receive equivalence within their relevant academic groups regardless of their O-Level stream, ensuring fairer recognition of international qualifications within Pakistan’s group framework.

Delegates praised IBCC’s push to move assessments away from rote memorization toward exams that emphasize conceptual understanding and critical thinking. The commission’s work in training master trainers and item writers, alongside capacity building for IT teams, was highlighted as vital for nation‑wide adoption of digital assessment systems.

Boards across Pakistan reiterated their commitment to collaborative, transparent and technologically enabled reforms, with the marking software handover representing a concrete step toward more efficient and future‑ready examination processes.
