Driving Accessibility for Persons with Disabilities
The Ministry of Human Rights marked the International Day of Persons with Disabilities by convening a seminar on accessibility in partnership with NIRM and FAID Pakistan. The gathering brought together stakeholders, experts and civil society actors to examine barriers to participation and propose practical, locally relevant measures to improve access across public and private spaces.
Dr Farid Ullah Khan Zimri attended as chief guest and reiterated the importance of mainstreaming accessibility into policy implementation. Speakers pointed to gaps in enforcement, the need for universal design principles and targeted capacity building to ensure that disability rights translate into everyday access for citizens.
Participants exchanged ideas on removing physical, digital and social barriers while highlighting ongoing government initiatives that aim to expand inclusion. The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to sustained collaboration with partners such as NIRM and FAID Pakistan to strengthen disability rights and advance measurable improvements in accessibility and inclusion nationwide.
