Act Now on SIM Registration to Protect Telecom
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has reminded mobile users that all SIMs must be registered in the subscriber’s own name and that using a SIM registered to someone else is a breach of regulations. The PTA underlined the importance of SIM registration as a basic requirement for lawful access to telecom services and for maintaining network integrity.
The authority emphasized that the registered user will bear sole responsibility for any misuse, including calls, messages and data traffic originating from their SIM or device. Consumers are individually accountable for activity on their connections, and the PTA warned that noncompliance may lead to appropriate enforcement action under the applicable rules.
Subscribers are urged to ensure their records are accurate and to complete any pending SIM registration steps without delay. Responsible use of SIMs and telecommunications connections supports broader efforts to protect public safety and helps prevent misuse that can disrupt services for other users.
The PTA called on all telecom consumers to play an active role in safeguarding the security, stability and reliability of Pakistan’s telecommunications system by following SIM registration requirements and adopting responsible behaviour when using mobile services.
