Facilitating Overseas Pakistanis for Investment Growth
Mr. Umar Shahzad, President of the Mirpur AJK Chamber of Commerce, accompanied by former chamber president Ch. Sohaib Saeed, met with Syed Qamar Raza, Chairman of the Board of Governors at the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation, at the OPF head office in Islamabad. The delegation discussed steps to strengthen ties between AJK business stakeholders and the OPF to better serve Overseas Pakistanis.
Discussions focused on enhancing welfare measures and identifying practical investment opportunities for expatriates. The Chairman highlighted the need to streamline services and remove barriers so that Overseas Pakistanis can more easily participate in economic development projects and contribute to regional growth.
Syed Qamar Raza requested active cooperation from the Mirpur representatives to ensure broad support for the upcoming AJK Overseas Pakistanis Convention, tentatively scheduled for February 2026. The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to coordinate on outreach and facilitation efforts for expatriate investors and returning professionals.
The engagement underscores a shared commitment to create clearer pathways for investment and welfare assistance, with the Mirpur AJK Chamber and OPF working together to present opportunities for Overseas Pakistanis to play a larger role in AJK’s development.
