Strengthening Pakistan Azerbaijan Ties Through Parliament
The Executive Committee of the Pakistan–Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Group met virtually with the Azerbaijan–Pakistan Inter-Parliamentary Working Group on Thursday, January 15, 2026, linking Islamabad and Baku to advance Pakistan Azerbaijan ties through sustained parliamentary cooperation.
Leading the Pakistani delegation, Convener Syed Raza Ali Gillani, MNA, joined Ms. Sehar Kamran, Mr. Muhammad Moin Aamer Pirzada, Ms. Naeema Kishwar Khan and Ms. Syeda Amnah Batool to discuss practical steps for deeper engagement. The Azerbaijani side was headed by Mr. Kamaladdin Gafarov, Head of the Working Group of the Milli Majlis, with Mr. Arzu Naghiyev, Mr. Elshan Musayev, Ms. Amina Aghazada, Mr. Jeyhun Mammadov and Mr. Anar Mammadov also participating.
Mr. Kamaladdin Gafarov highlighted the longstanding friendship and solidarity between the two countries and welcomed Pakistan’s principled support for Azerbaijan. Convener Syed Raza Ali Gillani reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to institutional ties and stressed the role of parliamentarians in promoting cooperation across trade, economy, culture, education and youth engagement to strengthen Pakistan Azerbaijan ties.
The meeting underscored recent practical cooperation, including the inauguration of the Pakistan Asaan Khidmat Centre by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, established with Azerbaijani cooperation. Participants praised the specialized training provided under Azerbaijan’s Asaan Khidmat Centre model as an example of how parliamentary and institutional collaboration can translate into service delivery and capacity building at home.
Delegates exchanged views on expanding collaboration in trade, agriculture, tourism, education, research and youth exchange programmes, while ambassadors from both capitals noted positive momentum in bilateral relations. Members agreed on the need for regular parliamentary interactions, closer coordination and sustained follow up to ensure tangible outcomes and to further deepen Pakistan Azerbaijan ties through parliamentary diplomacy.
