Advancing Women Welfare Through New Partnerships
The Women Welfare and Development Centre (WWDC) of the Ministry of Human Rights hosted a delegation from the Aga Khan Development Network, Aga Khan University and the National Institute of Psychology at Quaid-e-Azam University to explore collaboration with social welfare centres in Islamabad. The visit brought together public and private stakeholders to examine how joint efforts can strengthen services for vulnerable groups across the capital.
Delegates were briefed on WWDC’s ongoing community development work, outreach programmes, training activities and awareness initiatives designed to improve socio-economic conditions for marginalised communities in the ICT. The discussion highlighted WWDC’s role in coordinating local interventions and the potential for partner organisations to support expanded training, evidence-based outreach and community-based awareness campaigns that prioritise Women Welfare.
Participants agreed that closer cooperation could increase the reach and impact of social welfare centres in Islamabad, enhance capacity building for staff and volunteers, and support more effective community engagement. As partners consider next steps, the emphasis remained on practical collaboration that advances Women Welfare and strengthens services for those most in need across the city.
