Driving SME Growth Through Human Capital Action
The four-day International Workshop on Human Capital Management in Small and Medium Enterprises, jointly organised by the National Productivity Organization Pakistan and the Asian Productivity Organization Japan, concluded today at PC Hotel Karachi after a series of focused sessions for policymakers, productivity practitioners, industry leaders and international delegates.
Participants examined practical approaches to human capital that can raise SME competitiveness and operational productivity across Pakistan. Speakers emphasised workforce skills, motivation and targeted capacity building as key levers for translating training into measurable business outcomes for local enterprises.
Dr. Anthony Cinco Sales of the Philippines delivered a Vote of Thanks on behalf of participants, praising the structure of the programme, the resource persons and the organisers for facilitating meaningful exchange and learning on human capital issues relevant to SMEs in the region.
Delivering closing remarks on behalf of NPO Pakistan, Muhammad Alamgir Chaudhry, Chief Executive Officer, underlined NPO’s commitment to continue policy support and capacity-building initiatives that strengthen human capital in the SME sector. He reiterated the importance of practical interventions and collaboration with APO to scale up impact nationwide.
Sahibzadi Maheen Khan, Member Board of Directors, NPO Pakistan, presented a Vote of Thanks on behalf of the organisation, acknowledging APO Japan, the chief guest, resource persons, participants and the organising team for ensuring the workshop’s success and relevance to Pakistan’s small and medium enterprises.
The chief guest, Muhammad Rehan Hanif, President Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry, highlighted the pivotal role of a skilled and motivated workforce in sustaining industrial growth and called for closer cooperation between productivity organisations and the private sector to convert workshop learnings into on-the-ground improvements for SMEs in Karachi and beyond.
The Closing Session ended with a group photograph of speakers, participants and organisers, marking a renewed push to implement human capital strategies that support SME growth and productivity across Pakistan.
