PIMS Polyclinic Mobilized After Islamabad Blast

Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal visited PIMS and Polyclinic hospitals to review care for the victims of the suicide blast at an Imambargah in Islamabad and to assess the medical response firsthand.

According to the minister, 149 cases arrived at PIMS and 28 dead bodies were brought in. At PIMS there are 121 injured patients admitted, of whom 25 are in critical condition. Polyclinic received four dead bodies and 13 injured patients, with four among them reported as critical.

Mustafa Kamal said hospitals were placed on immediate alert after the incident and senior health ministry officials remain on site to monitor the situation. He extended condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for the recovery of those injured.

The minister confirmed that PIMS Polyclinic teams have mobilized all available resources, including medicines, surgeons, doctors and nursing and paramedical staff. He emphasized that there is no shortage of blood, drugs or surgical teams and that no negligence has been reported in patient care.

Ten fully operational theatres at PIMS have been activated and the medical teams have completed 20 major operations so far, with an additional four to six surgeries ongoing. More than 60 bottles of blood have been transferred to treat the wounded.

Mustafa Kamal praised the dedication of hospital teams working around the clock and reiterated that all possible resources are being used to stabilise the injured. He added that, to date, no fatalities have been recorded among the patients currently under treatment.
