Aurat Foundation Engages Parliament on Tobacco Awareness
A delegation from the Aurat Foundation headed by the Team Leader of the Anti Tobacco Program, Mr. Safdar Raza, paid a visit to the office of Parliamentary Secretary for IT & Telecommunications MNA Sabheen Ghoury. The visit brought representatives from a prominent civil society organisation into direct dialogue with a federal lawmaker on public health outreach.
The delegation conveyed their wishes to MNA Sabheen Ghoury in recognition of her continued support for awareness initiatives. Delegates emphasised the importance of sustained engagement between lawmakers and organisations working on tobacco harm reduction and prevention.
Ms. Ghoury expressed her appreciation for the Aurat Foundation’s work in promoting awareness of the harmful effects of tobacco use, with particular emphasis on raising awareness among young people. She acknowledged the value of targeted messaging and community-level education in protecting youth from tobacco-related risks.
The discussion underlined the role of collaborative efforts in Pakistan to reinforce public understanding of tobacco harms and to prioritise youth health in awareness campaigns. The meeting reaffirmed goodwill between the Aurat Foundation and MNA Sabheen Ghoury as both parties continue to highlight tobacco awareness across communities.
