PITAC Launches AI Center to Train Pakistan Youth
On February 15, 2025 in Lahore, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Haroon Akhtar Khan inaugurated the new AI Center at the Pakistan Industrial and Technical Assistance Centre (PITAC). The facility is designed to provide hands-on training in Artificial Intelligence and to broaden technical opportunities for young Pakistanis.
Mr. Haroon Akhtar Khan said the initiative reflects Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision to equip youth with emerging technologies, stressing that expertise in Artificial Intelligence has become essential. In his remarks he noted that PITAC has also established an Electric Vehicle facility and a Podcast Center alongside the AI Center to promote a wider range of modern technical skills.
Linking technological capability to economic progress, he emphasized that Pakistan must keep pace with global advances so the next generation can compete internationally. He announced plans to invite qualified trainers from abroad to ensure the AI Center delivers high-quality instruction and to raise PITAC’s offerings toward international standards.
Mr. Haroon Akhtar Khan praised PITAC’s performance and underlined the importance of youth-led innovation, saying “the real strength of Pakistan lies in its youth” and that startups and technical training will drive future growth. He congratulated PITAC management and staff on the new AI Center, EV bikes facility, and Podcast Center and wished them continued success in training and innovation.
