Punjab squash gets boost with federation visit
Air Vice Marshal Sohail Akber, Senior Vice President of the Pakistan Squash Federation, accompanied by Secretary Air Commodore (R) Amir Nawaz, visited the Punjab Squash Association and held a detailed meeting with President Noor ul Amin Mengal to advance plans for Punjab squash development.
The delegation engaged with provincial leadership including Senior Vice President Sohail Khan, Secretary Muhammad Mansoor, Vice President Admin Mamoon Khan and Treasurer Zeeshan Riaz to discuss coordinated efforts for promotion, training and infrastructure enhancement across the province.
Officials inspected the Punjab Squash Courts and the squash facilities at Nishtar Park Sports Complex, where they reviewed timelines and requirements for hosting international competitions. It was agreed that WSF and PSA tournaments would be awarded to Punjab once the Nishtar Complex upgrades are completed, signalling a clear pathway for higher-profile events in the region.
Air Vice Marshal Sohail Akber praised President Noor ul Amin Mengal for his commitment to improving facilities and expanding opportunities for players, presenting a souvenir as a gesture of appreciation and goodwill at the conclusion of the visit. The visit reinforces a shared commitment to strengthen Punjab squash and raise Pakistan’s presence on the international circuit.
