Cuban Ambassador Meets Russian Ambassador in Islamabad

The Cuban Ambassador to Pakistan, Damián Cordero Torres, paid a courtesy call on Russian Ambassador Albert P. Khorev in Islamabad on June 19, 2026, in a meeting that underscored the steady diplomatic engagement between the two countries.

According to the Cuban Embassy in Pakistan, the exchange took place in a frank and cordial atmosphere at the Russian diplomatic mission in the federal capital. The two diplomats discussed matters reflecting the broader tone of relations between Cuba and Russia, while also using the occasion to reaffirm mutual goodwill.

During the visit, the Cuban Ambassador conveyed condolences over the civilian casualties caused by the recent drone attack on the Russian capital. He also called for a peaceful resolution to the conflict between the parties, stressing the importance of dialogue and restraint.

The Cuban envoy further thanked the Russian side for its solidarity with Cuba amid the ongoing U.S. energy blockade and the continued pressure of unilateral coercive measures from Washington. The message highlighted Havana’s appreciation for Moscow’s support at a time of economic strain.

In response, Ambassador Khorev thanked the Cuban Ambassador for the visit and the gesture. He reiterated his support for Cuba and expressed confidence in the island nation’s resilience and ability to move forward.

The embassy said the meeting formed part of its regular exchanges with the diplomatic corps accredited in Islamabad, reflecting Cuba’s continued outreach to friendly missions in Pakistan’s capital.
