Ghumman Calls for a Healthy and Strong Pakistan on Independence Day

Rawalpindi: Pakistan National Heart Association (PANAH) General Secretary Sana Ullah Ghumman has felicitated the people of Pakistan on the country’s 79th Independence Day, extending heartfelt greetings and best wishes to the nation.

In his message issued on August 13, 2026, Mr Ghumman said Independence Day was not only a moment to recall freedom and the sacrifices of national heroes, but also a reminder of the responsibility to look after the Pakistan entrusted by them and make it stronger.

He said the country’s strength depended on a nation that was healthy both mentally and physically. PANAH, he added, had been working continuously since 1984 to improve public health and welfare through awareness, healthy policies and the promotion of better lifestyles.

Mr Ghumman said the real power of any nation lay in the health of its people. “Only a healthy nation can build a strong country and a strong economy, educate its children, protect its families and play an effective role in the development of the country,” he said.

The PANAH general secretary urged citizens to make healthy living a regular part of their daily routine. He advised people to adopt a balanced diet, cut down on products high in sugar, salt and unhealthy fats, avoid tobacco, include physical activity in their routine and make informed choices about food.

He said the occasion of Independence Day should be used to renew the pledge to protect public health with the same commitment with which the nation values its freedom and future. “A healthy Pakistan is the foundation of a prosperous Pakistan,” he added.

Mr Ghumman also prayed for Pakistan’s progress, peace and prosperity, as well as good health for its people. He expressed the hope that the nation would continue to move forward with unity, responsibility and a firm commitment to a healthy future.
