easypaisa, Transsion Join Hands to Put Digital Banking on Millions of Phones

ISLAMABAD: easypaisa digital bank, Pakistan’s leading digital bank, has signed a strategic partnership with Transsion, one of the world’s largest smartphone manufacturers, to widen access to digital financial services across the country.

Under the collaboration, the easypaisa app will be pre-installed on more than five million new smartphones sold in Pakistan under Transsion’s major brands, including Infinix, TECNO and itel. The move will allow users to access digital banking and financial services as soon as they activate their new devices.

The partnership comes at a time when smartphone use continues to grow in Pakistan, with 3G and 4G device uptake reaching 71.6 percent. Both organisations aim to use technology to reduce gaps in access to finance and encourage wider participation in formal financial services.

The initiative is expected to be particularly significant for underserved and unbanked communities, many of whom are using smartphones and mobile internet for the first time.

The agreement was signed in Islamabad by Farhan Hassan, Chief Digital Officer, easypaisa digital bank, and Michael Wang, Vice President Global Partnerships, Transsion, in the presence of senior representatives from both sides.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Farhan Hassan said easypaisa’s mission had always been to make financial services easier to access and to create opportunities for every Pakistani.

“This partnership with Transsion represents a significant step forward in making digital banking available at the point where consumers begin their digital journey. By embedding access to financial services directly onto smartphones, we are removing barriers, expanding reach, and bringing millions more people into the formal financial ecosystem. Together, we are helping accelerate Pakistan’s journey towards a more inclusive and digitally empowered economy,” he said.

Muhammad Abdul Qadeer, Country Manager, Transsion Pakistan, said the collaboration showed how technology, scale and local market understanding could be combined to create meaningful digital experiences for consumers.

“With millions of smartphones entering the hands of Pakistani consumers through our brands, integrating access to trusted digital financial services such as easypaisa creates an opportunity to make financial inclusion a natural part of the smartphone journey. We are proud to collaborate with easypaisa on an initiative that can deliver meaningful impact at scale across Pakistan,” he said.

According to the two organisations, the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to using ecosystem partnerships to remove barriers to financial inclusion and speed up digital adoption. By bringing together Transsion’s wide smartphone presence and easypaisa’s digital banking products and services, the initiative is expected to support customer acquisition, improve app penetration and increase engagement with formal financial services.

As Pakistan’s first digital bank, easypaisa has continued to grow its ecosystem through strategic partnerships aimed at making financial services simpler, safer and more accessible. The pre-installation of the app on smartphones marks another step in its efforts to reach underserved communities, empower consumers through technology and contribute to a more connected and inclusive digital economy.

easypaisa has over 60 million registered users and is the country’s first digital bank to commence commercial operations. The bank says it remains aligned with the State Bank of Pakistan’s vision of inclusive economic growth and continues to expand its financial products and services for existing users as well as millions of unbanked and underbanked people.
