SDSU Scholar Visits Arid University for Talks on Research Cooperation

RAWALPINDI: Dr Daniel Saud of South Dakota State University (SDSU), Brookings, USA, visited Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) and met Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Qamar-uz-Zaman to discuss prospects for enhanced academic and research collaboration between the two institutions.

Welcoming the visiting scholar, the vice chancellor briefed him on the university’s academic programmes, research capabilities and international linkages. He said PMAS-AAUR was focusing on innovation and technology-based solutions to agricultural and environmental challenges.

During the meeting, both sides discussed possible cooperation in agricultural sciences, geospatial technologies, remote sensing, climate-smart agriculture, joint research initiatives, student and faculty exchange, and capacity building.

Dr Saud also visited different research facilities of the university, where he interacted with faculty members and researchers. He was briefed on ongoing projects and emerging technologies being used for agriculture, food security, climate resilience and sustainable resource management.

Appreciating the university’s research and innovation efforts, Dr Saud expressed interest in developing mutually beneficial institutional linkages. The two sides underlined the significance of international academic partnerships for promoting collaborative research, knowledge sharing and new opportunities for students and researchers.

The university administration reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening international partnerships and expanding opportunities with leading institutions across the world.
