Abbottabad Public School Alumni Briefed on Legislative Process During Parliament Visit

Islamabad – A delegation from the Alumni Association of Abbottabad Public School (APS) visited the Parliament House and held a meeting with Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. The Speaker warmly welcomed the delegation, commending APS as one of Pakistan’s premier educational institutions whose alumni have significantly contributed to the nation’s development across diverse fields.
During the meeting, the delegation received an insightful briefing on the legislative process and the structural workings of Pakistan’s parliamentary system. The Speaker emphasized the critical role of standing committees in ensuring in-depth discussions on key national issues and formulating sound legislative solutions.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq highlighted various parliamentary forums that have been established under the National Assembly, including the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus, Child Rights Caucus, Young Parliamentarians Forum, and the SDGs Secretariat. He noted that these bodies aim to tackle pressing challenges affecting women, children, and youth. These initiatives, he added, have now been extended beyond the federal level to the provinces and Azad Jammu & Kashmir to ensure widespread impact.
The Speaker also shed light on the National Assembly’s internship program, which began in 2014. The program continues to play a pivotal role in involving young citizens in the democratic process and legislative education, fostering awareness and engagement among the next generation of leaders.
