RDA Addresses Water and Land Issues in Gulraiz Housing Scheme

Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) convened a key meeting to address pressing issues within the Gulraiz Housing Scheme, emphasizing urgent improvements to water supply, land management, and urban infrastructure. Chaired by Director General Kinza Murtaza, the meeting underscored the government’s commitment to resolving residents’ concerns and ensuring the scheme’s planned development.

During the session, DG Murtaza highlighted the critical water supply problems faced by residents and directed the Managing Director (MD) of Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) to install tubewells in the area as a sustainable and immediate remedy. This initiative aligns with directives from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, who has emphasized zero tolerance for delays in addressing water-related issues across Rawalpindi. Additionally, the DG instructed a feasibility assessment for rainwater harvesting, aiming to explore environmentally sustainable solutions for water needs in the vicinity.

The meeting also focused on land management concerns, with the DG ordering the removal of encroachments to protect legal property rights and promote proper land use. Clearing unauthorized structures and restoring ownership rights were identified as vital steps toward safeguarding residents’ properties and maintaining regulatory compliance.

Furthermore, the Planning Wing and Land Department of RDA were tasked with conducting a comprehensive survey of the area. This survey aims to evaluate the availability and development of essential public facilities, including mosques, graveyards, schools, roads, and healthcare institutions, to ensure the scheme’s infrastructure aligns with residents’ needs and urban planning standards.

The RDA reaffirmed its dedication to enhancing urban infrastructure and ensuring that all housing schemes adhere to planning regulations while providing basic amenities. The meeting was attended by key officials, including Additional DG Mansoor Ahmad Khan, MD WASA Muhammad Saleem Ashraf, Director Land Ghazanfar Ali Awan, Director Building Control Muhammad Samiullah Niazi, along with senior officers from both RDA and WASA, and representatives from various stakeholders within Gulraiz Housing Scheme.
