Media Literacy in Pakistan Strengthening Frameworks and Education

Dr. Noman Ahmed Ansari represented Rawalpindi Women University (RWU) at a high-profile National Dialogue aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s Media and Information Literacy (MIL) framework, underscoring the institution’s commitment to advancing media education and digital resilience in the country.
The event, organized by UNESCO in partnership with Media Foundation 360, SZABIST Islamabad, and the University of the Punjab, convened leading media professionals, journalists, and academics. Federal Minister Mr. Ahsan Iqbal attended as the Chief Guest, highlighting the government’s interest in fostering an informed digital society.
During his panel address, Dr. Ansari advocated for educational solutions to counter disinformation, emphasizing the importance of promoting critical thinking and MIL competencies rather than imposing restrictive controls on online speech. He stressed that empowering citizens through knowledge and education is key to safeguarding freedom of expression. Dr. Ansari called for institutional support and tailored educational strategies to strengthen media resilience across Pakistan.
RWU expressed pride in contributing to national discussions shaping the future of media and digital literacy, reaffirming its role in preparing citizens to navigate an evolving information landscape responsibly.
