Pakistan Russia Freight Train Set for August Launch

Pakistan Finalizes Plans to Launch Freight Train Service Linking Lahore and Moscow

Pakistan is finalizing arrangements to launch a new freight train service connecting Lahore to Moscow, diplomatic sources said. The maiden journey is expected to commence in August, as preparations enter their concluding phase.

According to sources, the inaugural ceremony will see participation from key stakeholders, including the Russian Consul General. The service aims to boost regional connectivity and streamline trade between Pakistan and Russia.

The planned freight train will follow a route starting from Lahore, passing through Taftan on the Pakistan-Iran border, then traversing Iran, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan before reaching Russia. This ambitious project is poised to provide a land-based trading route, reducing transit times and facilitating more efficient movement of goods across the region.
