Pakistan Health Expo Highlights Growth in Pharma Sector

**Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Successfully Concludes Two-Day Health Expo and Summit**
The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) concluded its two-day Health Expo and Summit at the Pak-China Friendship Centre in Islamabad, attracting a large number of government representatives, foreign diplomats, and industry stakeholders. The event highlighted Pakistan’s growing potential in the pharmaceutical and medical sectors, as well as the critical role of industry-led initiatives in promoting health and innovation.
On the final day of the expo, Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Aurangzeb Khan Khichi visited the event, inspecting various stalls and appreciating the showcased pharmaceutical and medical products. The minister commended RCCI’s efforts in promoting trade activities, particularly in the health and pharmaceutical sectors, and congratulated the organization on hosting a successful exhibition. Speaking to the media, the federal minister emphasized that Pakistani companies are charting a path of progress and gaining recognition globally. He reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting the pharmaceutical industry in meeting international standards, expressing confidence that Pakistan’s industry will take on a leadership role internationally in the coming years, benefiting the public through various government initiatives.
Earlier, Rana Ehsan Afzal Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Commerce, also attended the expo, touring the exhibition stalls. In his address to the participants, Rana Ehsan praised RCCI’s efforts in organizing specialized exhibitions and fostering dialogues between public and private stakeholders.
Prominent tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq visited the Health Expo, further attracting attention to the event. RCCI President Usman Shaukat highlighted the substantial potential within Pakistan for pharmaceutical exports, citing the country’s capability for manufacturing advanced medicines, the availability of skilled professionals, and the increasing global demand for affordable medications. He noted, “Pakistan is recognized for producing high-quality generic medicines at competitive prices, making them attractive to global markets.” President Shaukat also stressed the need to enhance the regulatory framework to ensure the safety, quality, and efficacy of medicines, and to address the growing issue of counterfeit and substandard drugs.
The expo also featured a range of free health services and testing facilities, including diabetes screening, dental and eye check-ups, fitness sessions (such as yoga), mental health awareness programs, and workshops on healthy weight loss. The event successfully provided a platform for knowledge exchange, public awareness, and the promotion of innovation in Pakistan’s health and pharmaceutical sectors.
