Pakistan achieved a significant diplomatic win in sports as Khalid Mahmood, Secretary General of the Pakistan Olympic Association, was elected to the Board of Directors of Asian Boxing. Mahmood won the seat by defeating India’s Ajay Singh with 18 votes to Singh’s 9 during the Asian Boxing Congress meeting held in Thailand.

This development marks an important milestone for Pakistan’s leadership in regional sports and reflects growing confidence in Pakistan at the Asian level. The victory also enhances Pakistan’s influence within the Asian boxing community and is expected to promote greater cooperation across the region.

Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Nasir Tung, President of the Pakistan Boxing Federation, extended his congratulations to Khalid Mahmood, highlighting the achievement as a matter of national pride, especially given the competition against India. He further stated that Pakistan is establishing a stronger presence on the international sports stage, attributing the victory to effective sports diplomacy and the country’s positive image.
