Enhancing Vehicle Safety Standards in Pakistan Automotive Industry

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, led a significant meeting with the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) to address the quality standards of vehicles in Pakistan. The meeting brought together key industry representatives, alongside the Secretary of the Ministry of Industries and Production and the CEO of the Engineering Development Board (EDB), to discuss ways to improve the safety and quality of both imported and locally produced vehicles.
During the session, Haroon Akhtar Khan highlighted the government’s strong commitment to public safety, stating that the protection of citizens remains the administration’s highest priority. He announced that international safety and quality standards would be enforced uniformly across all vehicles entering or manufactured in Pakistan.
Khan emphasized that these standards are not only crucial for safeguarding human lives but are also vital for protecting the environment. Recognizing the importance of collaboration, the meeting concluded with an agreement that the Engineering Development Board and automotive manufacturers will work closely together to ensure effective implementation of the revised standards.
