PGGA Stay Safe Training Empowers IIUI Students

The Pakistan Girl Guides Association (PGGA), in partnership with the Department of Urdu at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), recently completed a comprehensive six-day “Stay Safe” Community Service Project Training for senior female students. The initiative aimed to equip participants with practical skills and knowledge to enhance their personal safety, emotional well-being, and community resilience.
A total of 64 students from the 7th and 8th semesters attended the training, which included a series of modules on personal safety, online security, emotional well-being, and substance abuse prevention. These sessions were led by certified trainers from PGGA, ensuring that each topic was addressed with expertise and relevance.
A key feature of the program was an emergency first aid session delivered by the team from Rescue 1122. During this hands-on workshop, students gained valuable insights into life-saving techniques, preparing them to respond effectively in crisis situations.
Recognizing the growing challenges posed by environmental hazards, the training also featured a dedicated module on Disaster Risk Reduction. PGGA specialists provided guidance on different types of disasters and shared effective strategies for mitigating risks, thereby empowering students to play active roles in disaster preparedness within their communities.
The training concluded with a colorful ceremony celebrating both cultural heritage and national pride, including Independence Day festivities under the theme “Marka-e-Haqq.” The event brought together university officials including Dr. Fauzia Janjua, Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Literature, and Dr. Saira, Chairperson of the Urdu Department. Notably, all arrangements for the ceremony were handled by the students themselves, demonstrating their creativity and leadership abilities.
Following the completion of the training, students are set to begin internships at educational institutions affiliated with the Federal Directorate of Education, Federal Government Educational Institutions, and selected schools in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Upon completing their internships, participants will receive certificates in recognition of their achievement and commitment to community service.
