Major Sports Development Projects Announced in Punjab

Punjab’s Secretary for Sports, Muzaffar Khan Sial, chaired a key meeting to review and advance new sports development projects in the province, aiming to modernize infrastructure and promote athletic activities across the region.

The meeting was attended by Director General Sports Punjab Khizra Afzal Chaudhry, Additional Secretary Mian Usman Ali, Acting Project Director Farhan, and Deputy Director Tariq Khanzada. During the session, important decisions were made to launch several new initiatives and upgrade existing facilities.

One of the main projects includes the construction of an open-air volleyball court at Nishtar Park Sports Complex. Plans were also approved for a modern archery arena in Lahore and the upgrading of the sports hostel at Nishtar Park. Punjab Stadium and other stadiums around the province will also undergo significant renovations. The plan also includes building new shops around Punjab Stadium in Lahore as well as at other provincial stadiums, aiming to enhance their commercial viability.

A new tehsil-level sports complex will be built in Dera Ghazi Khan, further supporting athletic development in the region. Sial emphasized that Punjab is committed to building the latest sports infrastructure to support athletes and encourage youth participation in sports.

He instructed officials to swiftly resolve any outstanding issues, including obtaining necessary No Objection Certificates (NOCs), to ensure the timely start of these projects.
