Prime Minister Supports Flood-Hit Student’s Educational Journey

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Ikramullah Kakar, a student from a remote, flood-affected area of Balochistan, to congratulate him on securing third position in his matriculation exams with the Rawalpindi Board. Ikramullah, currently studying at Lawrence College on a scholarship granted by the Prime Minister, was praised for his hard work and determination in overcoming significant challenges.

During the meeting in Islamabad, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recalled his initial encounter with Ikramullah in 2022 during a visit to Qilla Saifullah, when Ikramullah and his family were living in a relief camp following devastating floods in Balochistan. At that time, Ikramullah shared his dream of pursuing higher education, prompting the Prime Minister to commit to funding his academic journey.

The Prime Minister expressed his pride in Ikramullah’s achievements and welcomed him warmly. Ikramullah thanked the Prime Minister for his support, noting that he had promised during their last meeting to achieve a top position in his exams—a promise he successfully fulfilled. The Prime Minister fondly remembered details from their earlier meeting and praised Ikramullah’s perseverance, especially considering the lack of local schools in his area.

Ikramullah shared that the opportunity to study at a prestigious institution like Lawrence College was life-changing. He also explained that he earned scholarships through his academic performance and is determined to work even harder in the future. He conveyed his intention to sit for the CSS exams, pursue higher education, and eventually serve the country, adding that his dream is to study at Oxford University. He expressed a desire to follow the Prime Minister’s example of hard work and dedication.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attributed Ikramullah’s success to the grace of God, the prayers of his parents and teachers, and his own diligence. He encouraged the student to continue striving for excellence and presented him with a special gift, stating it would be helpful in his future studies and professional life.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, as well as Ikramullah’s parents and teachers. Ikramullah’s journey from a flood-stricken village to a top student at Lawrence College stands as a testament to the impact of educational support and personal determination.
