HPV Vaccine Training for Frontline Workers in Punjab

The World Health Organization (WHO) Pakistan, in collaboration with the Government of Pakistan and the Punjab provincial authorities, has taken a significant step toward combating cervical cancer by preparing for the introduction of the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine in Punjab. A total of 72 master trainers have been trained as part of this initiative, and they will be responsible for training frontline health workers on the operational planning necessary for the rollout of the HPV vaccine.

The training program aims to ensure that health workers across Punjab are well-equipped to handle the technical and logistical aspects of the vaccination drive. This includes planning for vaccine storage, delivery, and effective communication with the public to encourage widespread participation in the vaccination campaign.

By empowering frontline workers with the skills and knowledge they need, this collaboration seeks to foster a smooth and efficient introduction of the HPV vaccine. The vaccine is a critical tool in preventing cervical cancer, which is one of the most common cancers among women in Pakistan.

The efforts underscore the commitment of public health authorities and international organizations to improve healthcare outcomes and protect future generations from preventable diseases.
