Liberia’s Vaccine Progress and Commitment to Child Health

Dr. Sania Nishtar met with Liberia’s Minister of Health, Dr. Louise Kpoto, and her team to commend the country for fully and promptly covering its share of 2024 vaccine costs. During the meeting, Dr. Nishtar also recognized Liberia’s success in decreasing the number of zero-dose children—those who have not received any vaccines—which marks significant progress in public health.

These achievements highlight the Liberian government’s ongoing commitment to improving health outcomes for its population. Prompt vaccination payments and targeted efforts to reach unvaccinated children are seen as vital steps toward preventing disease outbreaks and protecting vulnerable communities. Dr. Nishtar emphasized that Liberia’s dedication sets a positive example for other nations striving to strengthen their immunization programs.
