PIC Vows Continued Enforcement of Citizens’ Right to Information
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Information Commission has reaffirmed its resolve to ensure implementation of citizens’ constitutional right to access information as guaranteed under Article 19-A of the Constitution of Pakistan.
In a message issued on the International Day for Universal Access to Information, the Chief Information Commissioner greeted the citizens of Pakistan and said the Commission remained fully committed to the law passed by Parliament in line with Article 19-A.
The message stated that the Right of Access to Information Act, 2017, enacted by the Government of Pakistan, was being implemented in accordance with the principles set out in its preamble and provisions.
The Chief Information Commissioner said enforcement of the law was meant to empower citizens by enabling them to exercise their right to obtain information.
The Commission also reiterated its commitment to discharging its responsibilities under the legal framework introduced to give effect to the constitutional right of citizens to access information.
