Applied Biomedical AI Certificate Course Concludes Successfully

A 19-day certification course on Applied Biomedical Artificial Intelligence, organized by OIC-COMSTECH in collaboration with Ningbo University, has successfully concluded in Islamabad. The hybrid training program brought together more than 350 participants from over 35 member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and other countries, aiming to enhance expertise in biomedical AI applications.

The closing ceremony was held at the COMSTECH Secretariat, where senior officials expressed their appreciation for the contributions of both the trainers and participants. Professor Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General of COMSTECH, thanked Ningbo University and its distinguished faculty, highlighting the role of Academician Prof. Dr. Zhao, Prof. Dr. Liu Xinmin, Prof. Dr. Yuzong Chen, and Dr. Wang in making the course a success. He also commended the enthusiasm and dedication of the participants, emphasizing their role in enriching the program through active engagement.

Dr. Shahid Mahmud, Advisor at COMSTECH, praised the expert involvement from Ningbo University and noted the course’s unique blend of theoretical foundations and hands-on practical training. He emphasized that the skills acquired during the program would enable participants to effectively incorporate artificial intelligence tools into their research and professional activities within the biomedical field.

Sharing her feedback, Ms. Huda Sarwar, a faculty member at Rawalpindi Women University, described the course as well-structured and highly beneficial. She noted significant learning outcomes, such as improved understanding of word embedding techniques, biomolecule encoding, and the application of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to biomedical data. Sarwar added that the interactive teaching methods greatly enhanced the training experience, equipping her with valuable techniques for future research.

At the ceremony’s conclusion, participants who attended in person received certificates, while those who joined online were awarded digital certificates. The course featured leading scientists from both Ningbo University and COMSTECH and is expected to foster long-term collaboration and innovation in biomedical artificial intelligence across OIC Member States.
